Hi guys

I have been recently trying to get all the evidence required for my defacto visa. I am Irish and my partner is Australian. We have been together for a year now. I am applying for this visa while in Australia.

We have been together for a year and lived together since June (6 months into the relationship) however we spent every night together since we met. We do not have a lease as we moved in with people that needed help with rent, therefore the real estate is not currently aware we live here. Does anybody know of evidence we could provide in place of this?
Can i lodge the application before i get police certificates??
Does anybody know roughly how long it takes for the application to be approved/rejected?
Have any of your sponsors been interviewed or just the applicant?
Can anybody tell me how you can give evidence of agreeing to be in a de facto relationship? this is confusing me as i think of it as a verbal agreement between us.

Also apart from pictures of us together and with friends we have movie ticket stubs, concert tickets, score cards from bowling and mini golf. Everywhere we go we play skill testers and win stuffed animals. We have quite a selection but how can i use this as evidence for our application?

please help me... I'm sure i have more questions but this is all i can think of for now.

I suspect you are going to need more than ticket stubs and the like and you really need to thoroughly read the eligibility requirements including what a 12 months relationship is considered to be.
Start @ Family - Visas & Immigration and also read Booklet#1 and have a look at the sticky thread by elkitten.

Do not make the mistake of thinking you will be considered as having been in a defacto relationship for 12 months because you reckon you have as that will be a guaranteed way of kissing the visa application fee goodbye.

Well thanks wanderer. I dont think i am in a de facto relationship i know i am.
Not that i am going to explain myself to you. I had a few specific questions that you did not answer any of.

FYI I dont care about the application fee the only thing i care about is keeping my relationship going.

Lets say you need to do a bit of homework to answer for yourself re

Hi Red,

Immigration is going to look for very solid financial evidence that your are comitted to a de facto relationship. Although you aren't officially on the lease, maybe you could get statements from the friends you live with to say you live there together as a couple and both contribute to household expenses. Trawl through your bank statements to back this up, and any other things that you did or spent money together. Look at the sicky by elkitten at the top of this forum : Unofficial de facto visa tips for some ideas.

As for medicals, the website of the country you are in should give advice as to whether they should be done before or after lodgement. Visa processing times have been lenghthened in all offices, so they will probably take up to 9 months or more to process, meaning it may be better to get them done after lodging the visa. They are only valid for 12 months, so you could have to do them again if they expired before the visa had been granted.

Sometimes only applicants are interviewed, sometimes the sponsor is as well. Things vary from office to office so it's hard to say how it will be done where you apply.
