Hi All,

We submitted our PMV Application (Subclass 300) on 13 October 2009 and we just received the preliminary letter from the Australian Embassy in Washington D.C. on 22 October 2009.

We have a couple of questions which we're hoping you may be able to answer for us:

  1. Has anyone had any experiences with case officer N.P.?
  2. When the preliminary email states that our CO will "assess the application within 8 weeks", does that mean that we may have an answer within 8 weeks? This would be amazing, as my Finacee is from Central America, which I assume is classed as high risk.
  3. We set a wedding date for December 2010, but submitted the application in October 2009. Will the CO delay the processing of the application thinking that we have plenty of time before our wedding date?
Any help / advice would be great!

Talk soon,

Michael.

Hey M&M,

I doubt there'll be much chance of anyone here having had NP deal with a visa application but you never know!

No idea on what the various embassies mean in their wordings either and it could mean that the CO will be getting around to commence looking at it in the eight week timeframe - they may put that out as a guide so as they do not get too many calls.

As to getting married in December 2010, I suppose you could make a request for the visa granting to be delayed if it looked like being ready to grant more than nine months ahead of whatever date in December.
If you haven't got an exact date, suppose 31 March would be better than April Fools Day! as far as grant dates go.

But then you might want to go for a couple of months later just in case there was something that caused a wedding delay for that would be tragic if you ran out of time but suppose you could always head on down to a registry office or get a celibrant quick time if you had the license already.

Re the VM, there was a bit of a spasm a few days back where a couple of posts of mine disappeared of a thread [but came back] and a PM went missing too.
I'm not too sure what happened and I'm just a user rather than a hardware/software geek but could be the missing thread is out there floating in cyberspace Mike.

Hi Wanderer,

Haha...I thought as much...lost out there in the www!

Definitely don't want to tell them to delay the application! I was think of telling them the opposite, that we don't mind bringing the wedding date forward if the visa was granted earlier. We just weren't sure whether that would be a given, or if you have to make it known to them.

Just out of curiosity, why no chance of anyone having NP deal with their application? Is NP new to the game?

Bring on "grant day"!
