Hi All,

I am British but have lived in Italy for 20 years (before coming to Australia). I have been here now for 18 months.

I have obtained a Italian residence certificate proving this and I have obtained my Italian police clearance. I am in the process of applying to the AFP for my Australia clearance (since I have lived here for 18 months).

My questions are:

Do I need the two Italian documents translated? If so, who should they be translated by? Who can officially translate these?

Even though I am British, I have never spent more than a week at a time there over the last 20 years. Do I need to do Police Checks for the UK too?

Your help and advice on this is much appreciated.

Cheers,

FT

Hi there,

You need to get those documents you have translated. If you google, or look in the Yellow pages, you need to find a NAATI approved translator.

I would say that you may not need a British clearance, as you have loved there for less than 12 months in the last 10 years. But, maybe you should call DIAC and ask.
