I´m in Sweden preparing my Partner Visa subclass 309 after a 12 month Tourist Visa that I spent living with my partner.
It was devastating to leave my partner and our dog but I had no choice since I had a "No Further Stay" on my visa.Upon advice from an officer at Immigrations we registered our relationship in NSW (Newcastle) on the 11 october and are waiting for the certificate to arrive after the 28 cooling off period.Then my partner will get it copied and certified and sent it express to me in Sweden.
Meanwhile I contacted the panel doctors in Sweden to get info about the costs for medical exam and x-ray as I couldn´t find that anywhere.My jaw dropped when I realised that it will be about 750 AUD for medical exam,chest x-ray and HIV-test if that is all that´s needed. Health care is cheap in Sweden because of our system here,but it seems these exams are done privately and therefore quite costly.(In comparision,seeing a doctor in the system costs 25 AUD...)
I also was told they only do exams once a week and after 6pm.Not in a city near me either so it will be a daytrip and overnight stay.They had an appointment for me 2 days later but I had already asked the Berlin Mission if it was ok to do the exam before I sent in my application and was told to wait until asked.I don´t want to piss them off. Plus I need to sell my car to afford the exam! Lol...*kidding*
Nervous as I am because of a permanent condition in my lower back I asked the panel doctors office (by mail,they don´t answer phone calls) if I could bring some papers to clarify my condition as I understand that most people with some kind of condition will have to see a specialist afterwards.I was unknowingly born with spondylos that started to cause me problems ten years ago and I had surgery in 2008 so it´s basically fixed now but I have muscle damage and need painkillers daily,such as Tramadol (only 50 mg though) and Paracetamol/Panadol.
They were very helpful and adviced me to contact the doctor who performed my surgery and get a statement from him (in English) that explains my diagnose,what kind of surgery was performed,was the surgery successful,will I be needing any further check ups in the future,am I considered "cured"/"fixed" or do I need further medical care because of this.In other words:Will I be a burden to the Australian medical system? I don´t think so and I hope they will think the same.
As it turned out my doctor won´t be back to work for 2 weeks but his secretary told me to print out the e-mail I received from the panel doctors office and send it to my doctor with a letter + my phone number and e-mail.Even if it will be a few weeks until I hear from him I feel a bit more prepared and positive about the outcome of the exam now and maybe,maybe they´ll be getting enough info from my doctor so I don´t have to spend time and money on further exams with specialists.
Hope this info will help anyone worried about your exam and I´d love to hear what others with a condition (any!) have done and if it helped the progress!
