I'm not sure what you mean by an MPA but with an occupation in SOL#3 you can check Client Service Charter
That is a rough guide only as many factors can make an impact.
For instance if more people decide to go for higher priority state sponsorships, that'll mean those on a lower priority will wait longer.

Update for Priority 3 applicants

Dear Wanderer,
MPA stands for Masters in Prof. Accounting and yes, it does fall in Priority 3 category.

Now, with the latest notification from DIAC, where they have asked for Health and character checks for applications upto Sept 2010, what does this mean??

I mean, can we expect our case to be processed soon now?

Also as we had submitted both the forms with our application in Mid July 2010.. do you reckon we would need to do that again?

Thanking you once again.:)

Dear Wanderer,

One of my friend, who had exactly similar case as mine, except for the fact that I have children included in my application and hers was a simple family case for 886 relative sponsored (she had 6 band and I had 8each in IELTS) received her PR even without a case officer contacting her.
She had applied on her own, just like me, infact we use to discuss together before finalising on things (no agent). I applied 2 days before her (18th July 2010) yet its already been 2 days she got her PR.
Earlier also one of my friend applied around the same time (maybe 15days before me), through a renowned agent of brisbane and got his PR approved in just 3 months. I assumed that mine was taking time as a) I applied on my own and not through an agent, b) Mine was a family case or c) I was relative sponsored as well.

Is it just matter of luck or any other reasons, where the applications which were lodged later are picked up and finalised before ones which met all requirements and lodged earlier.

I am so very tense and having sleepless nights waiting for the outcome . Pls advise.

Kind regards,

It is really impossible to compare different visa processing times for as well as what is in an application being a possible cause of variations, it could just be the luck of the draw re staffing arrangements within Immi.
There are a number of different processing teams and there can be things happening like a change of staff in a team which could see new team members processing some applications quicker or there could be the opposite effect with some members being reassigned to special duties such as processing work to do with asylum seekers which is a growing problem because of people smuggling and something that the current government policies encourage - bad news all round, especially as skilled people spending much effort and time in applying are affected a bit like yourself.

In between, when there are higher priority applications coming in, they will be pur to the front of the processing queue.
Not all applications require interviews and it would seem your friend has had a luckier run than yourself and also likewise with the person using an agent as that should also not alone have an impact.

If the latest Immi advice is that they were getting Cat#3 applicants prior to September 2010 to provide character and medical info and you have yours included that is a good indicator and using that as a guide, you could see if tou can get much of a response from doing a post lodgement enquiry - see under the Immi Contact on top bar.
