Question about citizenship

Hi, I'm on a 189 PR Visa.

The rules state I must live in Australia for 4 years with less than 12 months away and more than 12 months PR.

I arrived in August 2015. In August 2019 it will be 4 years. I have spent 6 months outside of Australia (does this have to be added on?).

So let's say I leave Australia in June 2019. Technically I would be 2 months short. But what if I just use those 2 months as time out of Australia and just wait until August and apply then? Even if I'm working in another country.

1. Is that possible?
2. Can you apply from abroad?

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to apply. You will need to stay in Australia and in the 12 months prior to applying you are not allowed to be outside more than 3 months. The only option from abroad is under ministerial discretion, which is incredibly hard and requires significant ties to Australia to even be considered.
