Hey everyone,

You know, after we lodged our application I really thought I wouldn't have that many questions moving forward, but just post here to guide and help people who are in a similar situation as we are. But, here we are, more questions! Ha.

Anyways, my fiancee and I are getting married this weekend and I'm wondering if I should be updating the department now or after the ceremony? We included our marriage license in our application (Nature of Couples Commitment to Each Other) and included in our history and development of our relationship that we were engaged and to be married.

If I should update them prior to the wedding, what information would be good to include? We have forms filled out (not signed or witnessed) from our marriage commissioner, emails to and from the commissioner and a few other odds and ends.

Or, do I just wait until the ceremony is done and include the photos, the document signed from the commissioner etc?

Thanks everyone.

It's only personal opinion, but I would wait until after and just upload some photos and the marriage certificate. That's pretty strong proof, so I'd think it's pointless to go uploading more than that like emails and receipts and what not.

Good point, Sky. We will have all the info we need this weekend after we are married anyways, so I will upload it all on Sunday. Just a small gathering, 4 guests and the celebrant. Pretty excited.

Congrats! Our marriage was similar. Had it in the office with his immediate family and 4 friends. We just submitted the marriage cert and some photos. That was for the 820/801 stage after PMV. We did a big wedding much later but I never updated the department because I was already granted the 820 so I'll just throw those pics into the 801 in a few months.

Once the ceremony is over you apply to BDM in your state to register your marriage and once you get the certificate you attach that to your application.

Thank you! Small weddings, it's the way to go! Haha. We are thinking of doing the same thing. Small something here, wait for the visa to be granted and then when in Australia, have her family and friends for a night of food, drinking and all that other stuff :D

We're getting married in Canada, I think it works a little different here. We get the certificate from the celebrant.
