Questions Regarding Bridging Visa

351 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  JandE
Dear Australia Forum Community,

I have received NSW 190 offshore invitation and have recently lodged my application in the ImmiAccount, I also have a current valid 476 visa (Recognized Graduate) that expires in April 2024. My question is if I enter Australia on my current visa will that affect my 190 Visa application as I have received my nomination as overseas. Do I have to be outside Australia at the time of visa decision, if not am I eligible for bridging visa?

Thanks in advance.

You can be outside Australia for a 190 grant. You are not eligible for a bridging visa for an offshore application.

Yes you can … and if you held the 476 when you made the 190 application you should be able to get a bridging visa, if required.

Thanks paulhand. That cleared it up for me much appreciated to you both, I only had this concern because I thought NSW invited me as offshore so I thought that might change my circumstances if I was located in Australia at the time of decision that perhaps I would lose the invitation.
I'm not an immigration expert, but I can try to provide some general information that may be helpful.
If you have received a NSW 190 offshore invitation and have lodged your application in the ImmiAccount, it's important to note that visa requirements and processes can change over time. It's always recommended to consult with the official Australian Department of Home Affairs or a qualified immigration professional for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Regarding your specific question, typically, when you receive a nomination for a skilled visa (such as the NSW 190 visa), you would need to be outside Australia at the time the visa decision is made. If you enter Australia on your current 476 visa, it could potentially impact your 190 visa application. Again, it's essential to confirm this with the Department of Home Affairs to ensure you have the correct information.

How do I contact the department, is there an email address for such enquiries?

Contacting the Department of Home Affairs is probably not the best option, as the people that answer seem to be very vague with correct information.
