Hi everyone,

I am actually based in Bangkok, Thailand. For the next few months, I am planning to move to Melbourne with my whole family (quite all the administratives forms are done)..
I would like to know if you had some advice to give me concerning everyday life as an expat in Melbourne, and if you had some advice for the moving

Thank you to all

Happy to help you out there. I'm a Melbourne city residents waiting on my wife's partner migration visa submitted Oct last year.

Life style depends on where you live and work. Cost of living very high and heavily regulated socio-economy. The multi cultural aspect is great and in the main it is a nice place to live.
hi !!
Thank you for the reply. Yes, about costs of life, that what it seems to be said haha
Oh yes I can imagine how great could it be, this multi cultural aspect:):)

Thank's a lot
The cost of living may shock you! That's what I felt when I lived in Asia and settled in Australia, but it's always interesting to change the landscape and discover new culture!
Think about choosing your moving company! It is important
Hi,

yes it seems so different that Asia.. but still it will be good for the children to have the opportunity to move in another country, open their mind ..
Concerning the moving company, yes.. Here in Thailand, quite difficult to make a choice.. Trust a compagny is quite hard, giving them all your personnel stuffs.
However, do you know maybe a Australian company, or give me some advice concerning the moving ?

You'd think the embassy would be able to provide a list of reputable companies but don't be surprised if they don't.

Procurement of private business has a different set of rules to south east Asia.

If you don't know of someone personally then your new employer will. If not a large well known company like Toll on DHL
Hi,

Ok thank you, I will try with the embassy but as you aid, not sure they will give me a responds...
Hello Regis, having been confronted with the move, I had a contact in Thailand to make sure my move to Australia, a team of French enough professional and the rates were reasonable, if however you are interested I can try to search their site web
Have you considered Allied Pickfords
They are pretty good and appear to cover Thailand.
Hello Regis,
you can contact this provider who takes care of the move, they are the ones I used for mine, good luck!
