Is there any way to become a permanent resident of Australia if you are over age 45? (I'm a 61 year old citizen of the U.S. with an extensive IT background and currently employed in the U.S.) From what I've read of the Australian Visa requirements, attaining a permanent resident status in Australia doesn't seem possible. Can someone please confirm whether this assumption is correct. Thanks.

If there is an age limit on obtaining a visa, wouldn't that effectively make it impossible to become a permanent resident of Australia?

There is currently no age limit on the temporary employer sponsored visa (sc. 482), but no guaranteed pathway from there to permanent residence, as all permanent skilled and employer sponsored visas have an age limit of 45 years (although there are some exemptions).
