Is there any way to become a permanent resident of Australia if you are over age 45? (I'm a 61 year old citizen of the U.S. with an extensive IT background and currently employed in the U.S.) From what I've read of the Australian Visa requirements, attaining a permanent resident status in Australia doesn't seem possible. Can someone please confirm whether this assumption is correct. Thanks.

If there is an age limit on obtaining a visa, wouldn't that effectively make it impossible to become a permanent resident of Australia?
