Hello there, I am a 17 year old from Northern Ireland and currently hold a permanent residency visa that will expire in September unless I move to Australia. My father will be moving there this summer and as I am currently mid-way through AS Levels at school it is illogical to join him. I read that if I am a dependant child I may still be entitled to a subclass 155 resident return visa even though I have not accumulated 2 years in Australia since I have obtained my visa. Is this correct? I am hoping to move to Australia to study at university and I am just not sure what my options are.
Any guidance will be much appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Jessie

There is always a risk with RRVs that they will not be approved if you haven't already moved to Australia. However given your reason for waiting to join your father, and the fact that your father would be living in Australia, I'd like to think those would be considered sufficient reasons to grant you a RRV.
