Firstly, I know this subject has been widely discussed but we can't find a current and directly applicable answer, therefore....
We received a RFI email, sent from the Ottawa office, which included the name and position number of the person making the request.
The information requested was to do with our dependent child on the application, nothing about sponsor or main applicant. Dare we hope that this means everything else is OK?
We were given 14 days and have uploaded what was requested, save for a birth certificate with parental information. This has been ordered and will take longer than the 14 days to arrive. In its place we uploaded the proof of payment and order, along with a status update showing the order is being processed.
We then responded to the email, explaining this and that all else was uploaded and asking when we should click the "documents submitted" button. We received a generic reply that stated that the message will NOT be responded to from this mailbox.
So here is our question:
Should we click the button now to be certain we have responded within the 14 days, or should we wait until the birth certificate is uploaded, even though this will likely be beyond the 14 day time frame? Or, put another way, have we already responded within the 14 days with our email?
Thanks, C & C.

If you upload something to show you've applied for the birth certificate (acknowledgement email, receipt, etc.) they should accept this and wait until you're able to provide the document.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I called the department after hovering over the button for ages and not being able to decide. They advised that the uploaded documents are considered responding to the information request withing the time frame, as they are dated. They also said not to click the "confirmation of providing the info" button until the actual birth certificate is uploaded, because technically we have NOT supplied all of the requested information.
Hope this helps someone out there.
