I received an email "s56 Request for more information" mail from DIBP.

It says "You must respond to this request within 28 days after you are taken to have received this
letter. You should provide your response in writing."

This is contradicting with "Submitting documents
Please submit documents by attaching them to your visa application using ImmiAccount. Do not email us to advise when you have attached
documents in ImmiAccount." in the same email.

At the same time in the second attachment it is said "Providing documents
Do not send us original documents unless we ask you for them. If you send copies of your
documents, ensure that they are certified copies.
If you provide us with fraudulent documents or claims, this may result in processing delays
and possibly your application being refused.".

  1. Does writing mean Snail Mail in this context?
  2. If attaching via online account, do I need to attach scanned attested copies, or scanned originals (ie. is attestation needed only if sending physical documents)

Generally these requests mean you simply upload the requested documents to your ImmiAccount. Uploaded documents do not need to be certified unless they are black and white. If you can upload colour scans, then non-certified is fine.
