Need to bring my uncle to Oz to see his sister before she passes on. She is 70+ and he is late 60+. Time required 4 to 6 weeks. Country South Africa. What visa does he need and is she required to provide a letter of sponsorship for that period. He has a passport. Thank you.

To clarify -the sc. 600 visa has four streams:

Tourist stream
Business Visitor stream
Sponsored Family stream
Approved Destination Status stream

Sponsored Family stream: for people travelling to Australia to visit their family. You must have a sponsor who might be asked to provide a bond.
You must be outside Australia when you apply and you must be outside Australia to be granted the visa.

A standard tourist visa (sc. 600) should be suitable for the purpose.
