Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before so apologies...

Who needs to do a stat dec for the 801 visa? Do I (applicant) need to do one or are the statements on my application enough? And does my hubby (sponsor) need to do one?

We already have some from family and friends.

I fill out the narrative boxes in the online form and that counts as my statement. My sponsor did the sponsor stat dec form.

And it's definitely just the sponsor that needs to do it?

We're in the UK at the moment so we're making a special trip to the High Commission in London to get this done.

The applicant only needs to do the stat dec if you are lodging a paper application. If applying online then the applicant fills out the boxes which counts as the stat dec. The sponsor needs to do a stat dec regardless of it is a paper application or online application.

Just remember that the stat dec that the friends and family have done is a form 888 which is different to the stat dec that the sponsor does. The sponsor fills in the sponsors stat dec.
