Hello All,

I have been submitted my Student Visa (500- the Higher Education Sector) per 2 Jan, 2022 and have been finished medical check up per 3 Jan, 2022. But, until now (2 Mar, 2022), my application status in IMMI Account is not change at all (still "Received") without further notification. On the other hand, all of my friend who have been submitted coincide with me have already been "Granted" about 4-6 weeks ago.

I am from Indonesia and have been recommended to send inquiry email for my application status. I have send email to the ministry (about 3 weeks ago) and have been answered like the following:
____
Please be advised your application is currently referred to External Agency for further assessment.
We will notify you by email if there are any updates in your application.

_

In conclusion, my visa application status is not change at all for more than 60 Days. I have not received any notification if there is something wrong for my application.

Is it normal?
Is there something else that I can do (except "waiting") to accelerate the process (like uploading more document or else)?
In email, they said about "External Agency". What does it mean?

Thanks.
Fred.

It looks like they are waiting for some confirmations from maybe an agency in your home country. Are you aware of any personal issues that might affect your application?

You are currently in the slowest 25% of global visa times.
Median average processing time for Subclass 500 Higher Education Sector visas, that were finalised in January 2022, was 19 days.
  • 25% took under 10 days
  • 25% took between 10 days and 19 days
  • 25% took between 19 days and 38 days
  • 15% took between 38 days and 5 months
  • 10% took over 5 months.

I am not really sure about having any personal issues that might affect my application.

But, one of my friend suggest that I followed one more document in IMMI Account, which is "Police Certificate" to convincing that I am free from any criminal record. On the other side, my other friend said that following a new document (without being asked) is just making the process longer.

In your opinion, should I attached that new document (Police Certificate) or just wait their response?

Thanks before.

I've always felt that uploading new info can speed up a visa by virtue of them looking at it again, and possibly deciding to grant, rather than put it to one side again.

I don't it would hurt to attach a Police Certificate. Also ask if there is anything else they are needing.

When a relationship ends, you are no longer a dependant on your spouse or partner's visa.
To legally stay in Australia, you need to either:
  • apply for a new visa.
  • make travel plans to leave Australia.

It is not recommended to upload more documents to the application unless specifically requested to do so, as it may delay the process further.
There have been quite a few cases where people who have uploaded further documents, during the waiting period, have had a visa grant shortly after uploading.

We triggered a visa grant after uploading a new passport, and when they looked at it, they presumably decided to finalise the application, rather than putting it back in the pipeline.
