You can leave when you want to. I recommend that you notify the Immigration Department after you leave. Let them know you have left and ask them to cancel the visa under Section 116 (1)(a), as you no longer need it. This will save everyone time, and will look good on your visa history in case your want to apply for a visa come back.
Student Visa - Leaving Early?
Hey guys,
So my girlfriend is currently on a Student Visa that ends in July 2019.
She enrolled for 3 short courses from January 2018 - July 2019, with each course taking approx 6 months.
She isn't going to be doing the last course because we're both going to be moving to her home country, so we are thinking of leaving next year in January, before the classes begin for the last course. Part of the reason for this is that we'd rather just save the money, as each course is $6k every 6 months.
Do immigration need to be notified that we're leaving early? Or can we just up and leave without paying the last $6k and not tell anyone?
Obviously the visa will be cancelled when she does not enrol, but we just don't want it to hurt her chances of coming back into Australia or future visas because we didn't go through a proper protocol.

Thanks for that! Any specific email or number I should sent that information to?
You might still have a debt to the training provider and that could effect your credit history for some time - this will not bother the immigration department.
