Yes and no.

Some schools require to be approved of foreign students.

Also it can be very expensive as they are at international rates at many schools.

From memory the school does not get the $12-18,000 government payment per child, so some wont accept them.

Private schools can be very much flexible, but it is hit and miss.

Most states have different rules, so info in this area is hard to get.

Different rules for different states.

Queensland

The minimum period of enrolment is 2 weeks.

Students on tourist visas cannot study for more than 13 weeks unless permitted by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

Once the initial application has been processed, extensions may only be considered by Education Queensland International in extenuating circumstances.

2018 QLD Tuition Fees per week:
$309 Prep-Year 6:
$338 Years 7-9
$354 Year 10
$401 Year 11
$422 Year 12

There is also an application Fee of: $253

I am not sure how many people bother with it.

Thank you for everyone’s valuable info! We have been studying in a private primary school on a BVA that has no study limit. All of a sudden there is a possibility of BVA cancellation, so we have to go offshore and apply ETA to come back. We shall apply another BVA onshore, but then this new BVA would have limitations on study I presume …
