Hi,

In the next few days we will be submitting the Offshore Partner Visa. While that is processing I would like to bring my wife over on tourist visa to be with me. We have couple of celebration coming on. One in June and one is September.

I read somewhere if I were to apply for upto 3 month of visa, DIBP does not assess the application as scrutiny like if it was for a upto 6 months visa application. Is that true?

I would like to apply for 6 months of tourist visa stating my facts and also I want to be with her, but at the same time I don't want their decision to be delayed because I applied for 6 months.

Thanks

The question is hard to answer.

The same security checks will be done. The question Immi will be asking is are you a legitimate tourist. If it looks like the intention of a longer visa is to live on shore as opposed to visit then you won't be deemed a genuine entrant. They will also look at overstay possibility but the current 309 application is a good indicator of intent to go back offshore again.
