Hi there,

My partner's student visa expires on the 19th June 2018 and he has a BVA (class WA, subclass 010) whilst we wait for the outcome of the 820/801 visa.

We have planned to attend the wedding of some close family friends of mine overseas at the end of August, would be a 6 day trip.

Which travel permission do we have to apply for, just a BVB a few weeks before we travel?

Under "what can you do", it says, "If you still hold a current substantive visa when your BVA is granted, you must continue to comply with any conditions that are on that substantive visa. When your substantive visa ends, the conditions of your BVA will apply."

When his student visa ends in June and the BVA comes into effect, can he discontinue his studies?

You need to apply for a Bridging B visa (BVB).
