Hi there,

My mom and brother are meant to arrive in Sydney next Thursday from Brazil for 3 weeks but my mom's visa hasn't been granted yet. She's 75 and, even though she's been to Australia three other times, she was required to do medical exams this time. She got health clearance - I've updated her application on 06/02 and since then it's been sitting in "assessment in progress". I'm aware of the timelines but my brother's visa was granted immediately and the same exact attachments were used for both applications - I'm financially supporting both. Isn't the arrival date taken into account in the priority queue? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? As in, paying any extra fees for an urgency service.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

No. It isn't. Many people have had to change various dates due to visa processing times.

Immigration also say not to book before getting the visa, and they will not be held responsible if you do.
