I have been with my husband for 3 years and we have a 20-month-old. Our relationship is genuine, but I feel if the government read my statutory declaration they would be reluctant to approve it based on the lack of financial evidence.

Since I came to Cyprus I lived with his family until we bought an apartment last December 2016 and because I haven't worked long enough the apartment is only under my husband's name. We tried to change the electricity bills into both our names, but in Cyprus, you can only put 1 name down. His pay account has both our names but they can't put down the apartment address (computer restrictions). The only thing that has both our names and the apartment address is the car insurance.

I have put both my husband's name and my child's name as beneficiaries on my Superannuation account.

What else can I do??????????? Can anybody assure me that this is enough financial evidence to put through visa application 309.

It is not clear who is the sponsor here and why you are ( both) living in Cyprus? You can include a statement explaining you financial arrangements. Do you have a will, any insurance, is one of you the superannuation beneficiary of the other, any other joint property, a car?

I am the sponsor (Australian born). My mother grew up in Cyprus. I went there to be with her and her husband for awhile and during that time I met my husband.

That's all we have. As I stated.

His car is paid off.

In Australia I would definitely know where to get a Will kit, but here I doubt there is such a thing. Maybe I would have to see a lawyer and get one written up.

It's an offshore visa application. We wanted to initially stay in Cyprus, but have now changed our minds.

I don't think anyone here can assure you of anything. I think you will have to dig deep in order to find and provide evidence.

You would be surprised at what you do have that you would have never thought to be something that can be used as evidence.

Has your husband used you as his emergency contact at work should something happen to him? Is there a family medical plan that lists your whole family on it? Do you have any mail addressed to you or your husband while living in the same house? Why is there no joint bank account?

I know that if you have been married for more than 2 years with a baby then you should get permanent residence, however, I think this could be dependent on the amount of proof given that the relationship is continuing, genuine and strong.

I was born in Australia and so was my daughter, but my husband was born in Cyprus. So this doesn't apply to my situation. Am I missing something?

I'm still waiting for my 309 so may not be the best to give advice but I had the same issues as you regarding financial evidence. We had no joint account, no shared large purchases, no insurance or shared names on utilities. So, we supplied what we had - evidence of shared rent, individual credit card statements showing purchases for tickets and the like, names on superannuation - together with a statutory declaration about our financial affairs, including explanations to why we don't have a joint account or any of the other evidence they suggest we provide.

Since your husband is the breadwinner, you could provide evidence that he paid all your and your child's expenses, or you can show any contributions you made to the family finances with your savings. Things like that can also show shared financial commitment to the relationship.

Does your daughter have an Australian birth certificate and passport? Is she recognized as a citizen in Australia?

Christmas cards, birthday cards, pictures from family events, my partners name as my beneficiary at work, her as my emergency contact. Those things factor in and if you're able to get those from your husbands employer, it will be a good start.

De facto. We had been together for 18 months and lived together for just over a year when we applied.
