As these things go, last minute we realised that my partner has just 6 months left on her passport after we arrive and we have 3 weeks before we leave for Australia.

She is a Mexican citizen and I Australian and we believe we can get her passport in this time but our concerns are with the Visitor Visa 600 she has. I have looked on these forum and found she can fill out Form 929 but we have concerns with the time it takes to process this and whether her new passport will be accepted when we make it to Australia.

If anyone has had experience in this situation or are aware of the border protection having access to the files we could really use some advice here.

As long as there has not been a name change, you can update passport details through ImmiAccount. The new passport will then be linked to the visa instantly. The visa grant letter usually has this information.

Australia doesn't require the passport be valid for any particular time period after arrival.

Can you give me update how did you resolve the problem?

Did you manage to change the passport details before arriving in Australia, or did she managed to enter with old visa grant and new passport?
