Thanks for taking the time to read my forum thread.
I'm a lifelong resident of the U.S, but have always been fascinated by Australia's history and culture. I'm interested in finding employment in Australia and becoming a permanent resident. However, even if I became sponsored or nominated by an employer, it does not appear that I would meet the eligibility requirements according to the government's home affairs website - I'm 61 years old, single and don't have any relatives in Australia. (As a new forum member, I'm not yet authorized to include any web links in this thread.)
I have a background primarily in IT, mostly as an Applications Developer. I've been employed by only Fortune 100 firms, including 27 years with an IT services firm that's renowned worldwide. My current employer is among the top 10 on the list. In recent years, I've worked primarily as a Technical Writer and as a Business Analyst, and handle both roles in my current position. My employment record and dedication as an employee have been impeccable - I haven't missed a day of work in 38 years while routinely putting in significant amounts of overtime. I can provide solid job references.
With this employment background, I'm surprised that I might only qualify for a temporary status if I ever found employment in Australia.
I'd appreciate any insight into whether I might have overlooked anything with respect to the visa requirements.
Thanks.
