Hi everyone,

Im planning to study an associate degree (mostly commerce or nursing/healthcare stream) which may start from winter 2019. I m worried about can I apply a temporary working visa (like 485 visa) so that I can start my career in Australia.

Thanks and have a lovely day!

Howdy,

It would appear you may qualify for the graduate work stream (usually an 18 months visa).

The 485 has two streams -

1 - Post-Study Work - this is if you have an eligible qualification at the Bachelors level or above, in addition to meeting other criteria - usually a 2 year visa (4 years if you're applying based on a PhD).

2 - Graduate Work Stream - this stream allows for a wider range of qualification levels (presumably an associates degree is included as it is AQF equivalent to an advanced diploma - a MARA agent will know for sure), in addition to meeting other criteria.

The chief difference from the other stream being you nominate an occupation on the MLTSSL (skills list) where your qualification is closely related, and have a suitable (positive) skills assessment.
