Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I'm from the UK and came to OZ on a tourist visa valid for one year. I can only officially stay up to 3 months per trip in Australia but have stayed for 6 months straight after coming back from new zealand, so although I am still within my visa validity date, I have not complied with the rules properly.

I will be leaving Oz soon to fly to Malaysia and i'm wondering if it would be better to get a bridging visa or just turn up at the airport?

I am worried about being detained!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Simon.

You may not be detained but maybe they will cancel your tourist visa so you will not be able to return an they may possibly give you a ban on further visas for a couple of years. It depends on how serious the consider this breach of conditions. Call immigration anonymously and ask the question.
