I have already read a lot about immigration to Australia and the types of VISA though I have a particular question and not a lot of time to read through the entire posts. So I was wondering if somebody has any feedback or experience with the below question.,as I have a discussion coming up with my employer to talk about my future career and due to the fact that current economic conditions might again put my ISE assignment on hold, I am trying to explore alternatives. And as we for 2 years now have been anxious to take on this assignment as this fits into a personal planning, I am trying to come up with alternative ways to still have the security of a job and move downunder.
Hence my question. If my employer could put me on the local Australian payroll, would he legally need to go through the VISA sponsorship application or could I apply for another type of VISA if I have a written contract.

However your employer structures any placement in Australia, legally you'll need a visa that entitles you to work here and one form or another of employer sponsorship or an independent skilled visa application would be necessary.

Thanks. I understand that you legally require a VISA but if you state that you can also do it with an indepent skilled visa, it might maybe create an additional way to moving forward.

Would you have any feedback on what is more likely to be approved quicker. Or does at the end it all depends on those different factors that trigger the necessity in a particular job.

If you have a look at our sticky thread #4 you'll see references/FAQ to government tightening up on skilled visas and there's a priority approach they have introduced.

In addition to that you have to have qualifications assessed by the relevant professional organisation in order to get the sufficiently required points, so a lengthy process that for some people is stretching out to far longer than a year - it'll be dependant on whether you are from a high/low risk country and of course if you have a job offer and go for a state nomination or not.

I'd expect that if your employer has an Australian branch and can get approved or already is approved as a sponsoring employer and can get a nominated position approved, then doing a 457 or ENS[if applicable] visa application would likely be quicker
