Hey,

I have currently completed my diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in a reputed government college in Singapore (it was a 3-year course). I believe I am eligible for the Visa Subclass 189 visa (as my profession is listed in the Skilled Occupation List). My problem is that I am also following a degree from Murdoch Univeristy (Australian university affiliated in Singapore), it's a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance & Management.

I would like to know that if I apply for the visa subclass 189, would I receive the points for my bachelor's degree which doesn't exactly have much to do with my Engineering profession (although it is arguable that Management would be necessary) or would I just be given the points for my diploma in Engineering and have my Bachelor's degree ignored because it does not exactly fit my profession?

Hi Kavindu,

Generally speaking, you will only be granted points for the qualification you hold for the profession that you are in and that you intend to declare for your 189 Visa.

As every case is different it is best that you approach the assessment body (In your case -http://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/
