Hi all,

My partner and I have submitted an offshore Partner Visa 309 Application and it is currently at status "Assessment in Progress" which I understand can take a while. We only submitted in August.

We just started a visitor visa application for her to come join me for a few months while we are waiting for the decision on the partner visa. She doesn't even plan to stay the entire time we're waiting. It would just be for a visit in February 2018.

About half way through the visitor visa application we receive this message:
"Applicant has other unfinalised applications lodged with the department. The unfinalised application(s) may need to be withdrawn by advising the department in writing. The applicant will not be able to continue and should review our website for further information."

I have seen others get a visitor visa while awaiting the partner visa. So what are we doing wrong here?

Has anybody else had this issue? We're still getting the error.

I noticed a customer service line on the website - so I can try calling that for help, but if anyone has a better idea please let me know!
no I never got the letter. call the embassy processing your partner visa application and ask if they know why. maybe you're close to a grant.

Hi all - we contacted the local consulate in South Africa via the info on their website but haven't had any helpful responses.

Does anyone know of another place I can call/email to ask this question?

Ideally, my partner would like to be in Australia in Feb - Apr as both our birthdays are in this period and we have a friend's wedding invite for April. She has a work placement in the USA for June - August, so she wouldn't be able to stay long in Australia anyway if they're concerned about her coming for the wrong reasons.

Regarding our partner visa application - I heard we could be waiting over a year for an answer so I don't see why she wouldn't be allowed to still visit in that time? Has anyone else been denied a visiting visa in this waiting period? Surely if it's for a genuine visit it should be okay?

Thanks!

Unless they were about to grant the partner visa and it would be replaced by a subsequent tourist visa, I can't see why you are unable to proceed with the tourist visa application. I have had this warning before (although not with a tourist visa application), but it didn't stop me from continuing with the application. It may be a system error, so your best bet is to contact E-Services first and find out why this is happening.

I have been told that errors like this sometimes occurs when the system incorrectly links you to another visa applicant. You could try and delete the application, clean out your browsers and start from scratch with a fresh application.

Thanks so much. I just tried to clear out the browser, delete caches etc. but then still received the error for a new application.

I'll try the e-services idea as well.

Otherwise all we can do is wait and see if anyone we contacted gets back to us. It's really frustrating. :(

Just a quick update in case anyone else ever gets this issue: e-services helped! They were so great, and fixed the issue within 24 hours so we submitted the visitor visa application. Thanks CCMS for the suggestion!
Hi Nicnac,
Could you provide the contact information for e service, and BTY did you call or email.
Thank you in advance.
