Hi all,

I'm living and working in NZ (unfortunately not a citizen yet, hence the visa), and am planning to visit Australia as a tourist. I have a cousin living there that I'll probably visit - by visit I mean I'll go to her house for some tea or something. I won't be staying with her or relying on her at all for any support. On the visa application form it says "If visiting a close family member in Australia (who is a
citizen or permanent resident of Australia), a letter of invitation to visit is required". Is it necessary to get a letter of invitation in my situation?

Hello!

I hope this reply isn't too late to get to you!

While it is not completely necessary (I don't think). It is good to show the government that you have strong connections in Australia, so I think that it would help your application to have a letter from her.

Hope this helped!
