Looking for advice.

My partner and I have been waiting 26 months for a decision on his partner visa. He is finding it quite difficult here to get a job without a proper visa. A lot of work agencies are requiring a permanent visa or at least a sign that his visa application is progressing.

He is constantly being question as to why he has been on a bridging visa for 26 months, by even other government agencies such as Medicare and Centrelink.

I know this is illegal and he has full work rights but in this day and age, discrimination happens not only based of age, sex and race but also visa status!

Personally, it disgraceful that it’s taken this long, leaving our family in limbo for so long.

Our immigartion lawyer advised advised to bother the case worker but I am frankly running out of patience. This is clearly pushing the limits of even their own guidelines for processing.

Any advice on how I can get some movement.

Have you filed a complaint? Have you filed a complaint with an ombudsman? If I'm not mistaken, that's what they are there for. I know other people filed complaints and then received their visas after that.

Make a complaint. I waited for 2 years including 6 months over the maximum processing timeframe. I got my visa granted 3 weeks later.
If you believe that you have submitted every possible document then I strongly suggest to complain. Sometimes due to the high number of applications, you need to remind the immigration about your case.

One good news about your partner situation is that, he will receive his PR straight away...

First i will advice you email immigration brisbane cuz they handle 820 visa. If they don't get back to you. Then you follow it up as adviced above
