Hi everyone,

Name is Phil, I am German and living in the UK.
My wife is Australian and we have been married for a little over 3 months. We have been together for more than a year and a half but not yet 2 years.
We are currently working our way through the application process for the partner visa and I found the posts I had seen in this forum extremely helpful and there is still loads more we have to read until we can get comfortable with submitting our application for the 309 and 100.
I guess we are very similar to a lot of other people in that we are afraid little quirks here and there might make things different for us.
One of the quirks is, that we wanted to apply from the UK, but we were also considering to move to Germany during the time the Visa is being processed.
We are obviously living together in the UK and would be living together in Germany as well.
Does this create a problem?
We are considering a frontloaded application as we are hoping to move to Australia in the course of the next year so we are particularly interested in tips and advice on the evidencing of the relationship. We don't have a joint bank account for example, so we were wondering if that still works or whether we should set one up. I will start crawling the forum but would be thankful for any directions in where to look.

Glad to be part of this forum now and hope to get to a stage where we can give back rather than just asking for help.

Cheers
Phil

Just make sure you update your address and contact details in immi when you move. Would probably be good to mention it in your statement on future plans.

A joint bank account isn't a requirement, but obviously adds to evidence of commitment. Not all couples operate that way though and that should be fine too. I would just address it. For example, my partner and I have separate accounts but share a savings account. I have plenty of friends in long term relationships or marriages that don't share any bank accounts at all. But keep in mind you'd want to supply other evidence of joint finances.

Thank you Skybluebrewer.
We do both pay for our apartment (lease is in joint name), it comes out of my account and my wife has a standing order to me. Other than that we operate fairly spontaneous I might have paid for flights for holidays, my wife might have paid for the accommodation etc. We generally don't add up bills and balance out as we very much believe it is either way anyhow.

Will look into that how we can best demonstrate this.

Thank you very much.

Is there experience with handing in a whole two years of WhatsApp chat history, is this overloading and slowing things down, or good as comprehensive?

Some people choose to do screenshots of a few key conversations for each month and compile it in chronological order. Personally I would focus on conversations more common to serious relationships, like emotional support, discussing future plans, organizing social events, etc.
