Is it true that you don't have to have work experience in order to apply for GSM as a Chemical Engineer? (i.e. can I apply for PR right after my course?)

Is it true that VETASSESS requires work experience in order to apply for GSM as an Actuary?

Is it difficult to find work experience as an Actuary without PR?

If you have studied in Australia for more than two years, an onshore PR visa can be applied for, studying considered as in lieu of experience that is required if you are applying for a skilled PR visa from abroad.
Re the Actuary, you need to have a look at Vetassess or whomever the assessing authority could be, Actuaries a branch of accountancy to best of my knowledge.
If you did not have a PR visa, you would need to have one of the temporary visas and it could be more difficult to find work though with a 457 you need an Employer to Sponsor you anyway.

My current understanding of the GSM process of an engineer is:
- Degree - IELTS 7.0 - Apply - Wait for 18 months - Profit!!
Do I have to have a job? Some agents tell me that I do, while some don't. I'm quite confused.
