Here is a thread from long ago, it is only a brief of the things they had happen.

The extents they went to get the PMV and evidence of their relationship would far exceed most peoples De facto or Partner Visa applications.

Chicken999 invested in over 4 years of the DIBP waiting time, but saw it out and finally won. I was happy to hear that Feb they are eligible to do the final stage of Citizenship.

Not to mention the amount of money it cost Chicken999 to bring her partner here - I can't remember that exact figure (I know she posted it somewhere) but it was quite high. She had to pay for a top lawyer to do the second PMV application.

It frustrates me to read people complaining about why their visa is taking so long and why does it cost so much and everything else under the sun. I always feel people should be a bit more grateful for the opportunity to even come here to such a great country. Yes it's expensive, yes it takes a long time, yes it is frustrating but at the end of the day, I'm given the opportunity to be with my partner, live and work in a great country, given healthcare even on a temporary visa, etc. And many of the complainers breeze right through the process and don't even know how difficult it can be for so many others, like chicken999 and you ampk, as two examples.

I know someone who whinged and moaned about how immigration was stopping them from continuing their lives, that it was taking too long, and so on. Then a CO emails them saying they were ready to grant the visa (in only 9 months, mind you) and she proceeds to ignore the email for several weeks with no plans to leave for the grant for at least 3 months. Then asks me when can she get an aussie passport... when she still doesn't have a visa grant yet and still has the 820/801 to apply for after the 300. I see a lot of entitled people that expect Australia to just give them what they want, and I wish Australia could find a way to keep them away. So many more people fighting for the opportunity to come here and are appreciative of it, it sickens me to see the other side of it.

Sky while my experience with our visa cost far more than Chicken999's $50,000.

Much of that was my doing like the visits and the offshore to Vietnam for PMV grant at $10,000 for the 7 of us for the week including many days at a very fine resort.

I had some battles but nothing on the scale that Chicken999 had, nothing even close.

If my memory serves me correctly she even moved to Africa for a period so they could be together and build a house/hut - home together and gather more evidence and it seems money was very tight.

After our PMV we got visitor visas probably due to the storm I created at the Moscow embassy because I had lots of time and money to complain far and wide.

Chicken999 got told to stop applying for visitor visas as it will never be granted.

So thank you Sky, but I am not any place close to the hardship of some applicants and feel far from what Chicken999 hardship/s and waits were.

I wish others would read some of the stories before they complain about a year and $7,000

Many can only dream that is all it will be.

Hi all. I havnt logged on for a year or so but got a notification in my email today saying my box was full but someone was trying to contact me. It made me smile to see u all still talking about my story and the epic fight we faced and eventually won. Well update is kobo got his pr last February and we are set to apply for citizenship early next year. He hasn’t “run away” yet lol and it will be 9 years together in March so I guess he’s gonna hang around. Lol. We are still madly in love and very happy. He’s worked since 3 weeks after arriving here and happily pays his share of the pills. We’ve been back to Ghana last Christmas for a mo th and we just returned from uk in November fir 3 weeks. Life is good praise god. Patience has been rewarded

Ampk I havnt updated myself on ur latest yet but I remuneration u were having grief with the Russian embassy years ago. Is it still ongoing or are u both here now?

Our case was not so good and I had to defend Domestic Violence on principal - been a tough year here.

But thanks for dropping by - you are/were an inspiration to others on the long journey of a bump or two in the road.

That feels so long ago. akinawamomo ended up waiting 18 months and that was back in tne days when the same embassy was processing applications in 9.5 months.

Well I will note - I got a personal reply from the Queen of visa hardship, on this thread.

To me it means a lot - wade thru the shyt or move the mountain , what ever it takes was what I learnt from chicken999.
