Hi,
I arrived in AU on an ETA. Shortly after, I got married, but we haven't applied for the onshore partner visa yet.
I am about to communicate to the DIBP that I got married and changed my name.
My question is: Can I still use my ETA which is valid till December 2018? I mean, will I have any problems at the airport if I leave Australia and try to re-enter 2 months later? Will the fact that I am now married to an Australian Citizen affect my "genuine visitor" situation? my intention is to apply for the onshore partner visa once I return.
I have heard of people being returned home from AU airports because the immigration officer cancelled their ETA because they declared they intent to apply for an onshore visa. can this be?
Thanks in advance
