Hi everyone,

Does anyone have info / experience about work experience points awarded for working as engineer for a university?

I worked for a university as Research Engineer doing R&D for externally funded projects:

* My reference letter states it was a full-time non-academic position with duties corresponding to tasks in ANZSCO code (electronic engineer).
* I was paid a market related salary - have payslips, bank statements + tax returns as proof.

What do you think? I'm worried they won't give credit for any university work. EA's booklet says:

"In general, research activities undertaken as a Ph.D/M.Phil student, or work experience as a Research Assistant/Fellow whilst undertaking a Ph.D/M.Phil cannot be considered as relevant skilled employment"

Thanks for your replies.

@WRussel, yes it was related in subject matter, but was for a separate project, i.e. not my masters research project. Maybe I should explain further:

I did an M.Eng (2yr full time master of engineering) for which I was enrolled full time during 2011-2012 and switched over to part-time enrolment from Jan 2013 (shown on my academic transcripts). I handed in my thesis Nov 2013 and graduated March 2014.

I worked as Research Engineer from Dec2012 until Jun2016, so the last 1yr and 4months part-time enrolment overlaps with (full time) work . Keep in mind that I was already qualified (graduated B.Eng in 2007) - my MSA result confirms this.

Do you think EA / DIBP would award experience for the entire period (Dec2012 - Jun2016)?
