Hello All!
So happy to have found this forum! I can't find any info on my situation so I'm hoping some of you fine folks can point me in the right direction
My partner and I (I'm the applicant) are eligible to apply for a de facto visa at the end of January. I work on board a cruise ship based in Sydney.
We would ideally like to apply while I'm working so that we'd be closer to approval (and reduce the time until I'm able to apply for jobs in Aus) once my contract is up. My question is, since I'm on a ship that leaves and comes back to Sydney, am I still considered to still be in Australia even though my ship docks outside of Australia? If so, then could I start the application process while at sea? Has anyone done this?
I am on an MCV visa however have a valid ETA. Also, when I finish my contract, I would be flying back to Australia from Singapore.
Any insight here is greatly appreciated!!!
