Use an agent for Philippines?

The responses to this forum seem to suggest that using an agent is not necessary unless you have a complex case or if your partner is from a high risk country. I believe my case for a PMV is not complex but my fiancee is from the Philippines. Is this going to be a problem that I will need an agent for? What are the problems that may arise from the application?

thanks

Please update your flag here .

Hi Peter,

My fiancee applied for a subclass 300 visa in June. We did not use an agent as we felt that it was straightforward and was not really complicated enough to require an immigration agent. Have a look at the forms you need to fill out and if you get stuck, ask around here and there are more than enough people that would be more than happy to respond to your queries.

Fran

Hi Tom,

Not really sure but would advise calling or visiting with the Philippine embassy where you are. They may be of some help with your question. However, I would avoid any agency they recommend as it could be a family member of the embassy worker that owns the agency.

I agree, the paperwork takes a bit off reading but is no more difficult than filling out any centrelink form. It is more about the evidence of the relationship and gathering required/requested documentation. So save the $1,000 or 42,000pesos (approx minimum cost of an agent) and show her some of Australia

Hi Peter,

I also did our PMV300 lodgement myself. I started out by giving the Partner Migration Booklet a thorough read, as everything you need to know is in it. For as long as both your documents are in order, and your evidence is strong and substantial, there should be no problem. If you experience difficulty with anything along the way, you can always post your queries on this forum. We'd only be glad to help.

However if you no longer want to grope your way through the process, and if you have extra funds to spare, then by all means, find a good agent. Mark Northam is a member of this forum who has been generously sharing expert advice. Mark has reasonable fees for a PMV300 lodgement. (Note: I do not personally know Mark and neither does Mark know me.)

Good luck!

~ Nina
