Friend on 600 Visitor Visa

My friend of 5 yrs has agreed to visit me in OZ, she is from Ukraine - I lived there 2+ yrs, some of it together even with her, it's not your typical Ukraine story!

Proposed visit dates (type 600 visitor visa)
  • If she applies today, with proposed dates say 1st April and leave 30th April, would it be possible for her to arrive earlier?
  • How does immi determine the visa valid from dates?
  • Should she be putting an earlier arrival date, even if itís most likely she will be here for April to give the option to arrive before/allow felxibility?
I realise she gets 3 months from the visa date to arrive then up to 3 months to stay here.
  • Also, there are 2 places where you put dates on the internet form right? Is one an estimate or ..?

Sponsor Letter
My friend is not so rich but has a very good job with an international company, the local currency value has halved, her bank balance looks very ordinary I suspect, borderline for 4 weeks in OZ and flights.
I have agreed to pay for accommodation, food, travel costs, it won't cost me anything really TBH.
BUT
Also I want to say I am prepared to cover plane flights (if needed) with cash or air miles, reason being: she needs a break and to be with the person she turns to - extremely sick parent ATM. I am concerned, if I put I am prepared to pay for flights it will look unusual to the immi department? I guess I just explain why right?
Or they don't include this flight cost when looking at bank statements? I guess available credit on credit card helps?

Also interesting, there is no option for a friend to sponsor, so this letter would be an attachment after you pay right?

Attachments
Should she be attaching photos of us together over the years, of us and her sick parent. She has an expensive company paid training course to return to so letter for this, her salary, my proof of salary, both our bank statements, my letter of assistance?

I'm posting because, as you can imagine, she has enough stress, and I REALLY donít want any chance of a refusal for visitor visa (I cannot see a single reason why though).
When she visited me in the UK (I'm dual citizen), the visa approval process needed many attachments/photos.

Thanks in advance.

The documents you/she intend to attach should be sufficient.
In your cover letter you could explain that you are paying her airfare simply because you want to give her a holiday since she has been dealing with the stress of a sick parent.

Play up the importance of her as caregiver to the sick parent as a reason for her to return to the Ukraine. Is she main caregiver etc.

Re dates...usually the visa will cover the period that you wish to travel to Australia. She would be able to stay maximum 3 months from the date she enters Australia, prior to the expiry date of visa. Usually a date after which one must not enter Australia is noted. Depending on the visa processing time, the application should not be made more than 3 months prior to intended travel.

For both my visitor visas, the visa was valid immediately upon grant.

Might be worth a chat with a MARA agent- just to make sure your case is as strong as it can be. I havnt seen any tourist visa for Ukraine approved in a while given the current issues ongoing locally.

Thanks for the feedback, especially on dates. It helps.

Know a good MARA agent?

I don't believe that they would discriminate against a country, so much media hype about Ukraine. I looked at the return rate for Ukraine, and its not high at all.

In my invitation letter I will change to say about how she spends time helping with her parent. But TBH it shouldn't be needed.

My Ukrainian friends tourist visa has been declined twice so far and she had all the same documents attached also had $15,000 us in her bank. I would really like to hear the outcome of your visa application

We see IMMI discriminating against a country all of the time because of current political issues.

Have a look at Rodeobear's previous posts. You can see him discussing his situation with Mark N (a registered MARA agent). Mark gives him some good advice, so he would be a good agent to speak to.

Mark is a really great guy here with great advice, but sadly i think tourist visa's for Ukraine are very hard to get with the current situation, but i would really like to hear the outcome of his application. Some people just get lucky

Ampk successfully got a PMV for his fiancť and her kids after a rejection. I know he engaged the services of Mark to help with the tourist visa but from memory I thought he went to his local member too.

Ampk is out of the country at the moment but check his previous messages to see what he did and also contact Mark.

I must admit some countries you just can't get a tourist visa from. My husband could not get a tourist visa from Egypt and it is common knowledge with migration agents that Cairo embassy don't issue alot of tourist visa's.
