This is what the email said:

Dear @$%^&!*

Thanks for your reply to my email regarding the 12 months de facto relationship requirement.

Today is my first day of returning to work after a few days break.

The reasons I asked you to comment on the above requirement is as follows:

You stated on the form 47SP that you first met your sponsor Mr #[email protected]%&*$ on 27/4/2012 and you committed to a shared life together to the exclusion of all others on 31/5/2012. You also stated that you and your sponsor started to live together on 20/3/2013. You have provided supporting cohabitation evidence including joint bank statement dated 28/10/2013 and joint car insurance dated 11/2013.

Living together as a couple is the essence of a de facto relationship.

I have also noted that the first time you came to Australia in on 25/10/2013, based on the statements and evidence you have provided, I am not satisfied that you and your sponsor have been living together as a couple for at least 12 months immediately before you lodged your application on 20/1/2014.

If you have lived together as a couple outside Australia before you entered into Australia on 25/10/2013, then you need to provide me the evidence to support your claim.

The due date to provide the required evidence or comment on the 12 months de facto relationship requirement is 14/2/2014.

If you are not able to meet the deadline, please notify me in due course.

Hope the above clarified your thoughts on your application.

Thank you for your cooperation and kind regards!

It sounds like she hasn't seen the relationship registration.

I would reply to her email and say how you registered the relationship on x date and you had read in the partner booklet (or whatever you want to put there) that relationship registration waives the 12 months living together.

She is looking for 12 months evidence but that is not required if your relationship is registered with BDM.

Anything helps with the application.

All little bits add to the application.

So you did paper lodgement and not online?

Good luck and keep us posted on what the case officer says.

Just want to check that your partner changed to a BVB before you left Australia.
