801 Questions

I'm way off doing this but I have a few questions:

- I know you pay again but is it for a full visa or a lower amount because you're already on the 820? I'm just wondering how much I need to get saving for Part 2.

- Evidence wise do I reuse all the evidence plus some for the 801 or is it just evidence from now until I apply? Or evidence from when my 802 is granted til I apply?

- Is there anything you'd wish you'd know beforehand that might help me prepare.

I know I'm thinking early but the 820 has been so stressful and there's so much I wish I'd know before hand!!!

Things I wish I knew beforehand:
1. Getting a physical is expensive ($450 American)! It is mandatory to get an x-ray which drove the price way up, and insurance does not cover it because it has do to be done through an Australian certified medical group which there are only 3 in California.
2. Getting an FBI clearance and police background checks will take about 4 weeks.
3. ummm, I am sure there were a few more things, just can't remember, sorry!

Wow 4 hours??? I don't think I had to wait that long...but they did have me driving from place to place in the bay area because the physical was done in one building and the x-rays done in another building in another suburb. Soooo efficient. Hey I'll be in Melbourne too! Great city.

- The 820/801 application fee covers both the 820 and 801.

- Usually they request the evidence since the approval of your 820.

- I haven't applied yet but I have a friend who is applying for her husband's PR soon and the one thing she wished that she knew was that she had to keep collecting evidence. She thought that they automatically gave him the PR after 2 years.

- One thing that I will mention that was mentioned the other day is if you are going to the movies scan the tickets are you go along because apparently the movie tickets fade.

I have never heard of them asking for new medicals for the 801 after the 820 has been granted.

With police checks they ask for the AFP one and any where you have spent more than 12 months in another country since the approval of the 820.

You have to do the Australia police check again but not the ones for your country of origin. Also I've never heard of having to do the medical again for the 801.

Due to the amount of fraud in the family visa stream I believe you need to provide similar levels of evidence that you did for the 820 - don't bother resending the same evidence from the 820 - they are looking for evidence from the 2 years after the 820 application. We applied dec 2013 so intend to provide evidence starting Jan 2014 - Dec 2015
Also there is no more $$$ to pay for visa fees - the 820 fee covers both the 829/801 application :-)

Does such a thing (movie tickets, football matches, etc...) really matter of evidence? I mean no tickets with your name printed/written on it, so how can you prove that you and your partner went along?

It proves social aspect of the relationship. With movies you prove that you went via cinebuzz as it also lists all the movies that you have seen.

Not everything will have your name on it but it shows you are going out and doing social things together. Every little bit of evidence added together paints the big picture.

No more fees!!! HA! Hubby will be glad to hear that, I just assumed we'd have something more to pay!! So happy, it's cost a fortune with flights, the visa and I've not been allowed to work this last year so yay!

I was sure I read I had to do a medical again? Perhaps I'm getting confused that I need to redo it if my current one goes over a year? The Police Check is easy, I'm a good girl

I've uploaded evidence right up to the end of last year (date wise), since we applied in July. I've started a new folder to collect evidence from this year onwards for the 801, now I know what they'll be looking for exactly I have it all sectioned off to make it easier.

We normally book tickets for things online, which helps because there's usually one of our names on it (whoever booked it) and sometimes card details to link to accounts.

Thanks so much for your comments, my night has just been made knowing I don't have to pay out so much again!!!
