How often do you actually think they ask?
I doubt with 1500, backup from your parents, and the fact that you can work on this visa, that you will have any problems. If you show up with 600, they might worry a little bit that you won't last long without a job.

Recently on a TV show called Border Security they denied entry to a girl with $500 in cash, no bank cards, on a tourist visa. I think you're worrying for no reason. Hundreds arrive on this visa every day, coming from a low risk country they will probably just ask you casually how much money you have and that'll be it.

My husband came from France on a WHV, he only had 800 euro, they didn't ask him about how much money he had. They also take into account if you have contacts in the places you're going, because they know friends will sometimes let you stay with them.

It's an electronic visa - you apply for it online. You will not need to supply proof of funds in the application, this happens at the airport, at customs as you pass through. Bring your bank statements with you.

My husband had to supply proof of funds before his WHV was granted, he applied online and is from the US.

I guess it differs for each application.

Thanks for that, it must be different for each country I guess - I was with my husband when he applied for his online and it was just a matter of saying yes and no to things...nothing was uploaded as proof.

In any case it's really not a big deal - the person applying for a WHV should have enough money saved up with the bank statements to proof it and whether they provide that proof in the application or at the airport (which they can ask for again), it will be needed at some stage.

My girlfriend also needed to provide proof of funds as well as all the other necessary things (birth certificate, etc.) when applying online. Also from the USA.
