US citizen on 457 Visa, how can I bring a girlfriend to Australia?

I just arrived and started work on a 457 Visa here in Australia, hypothetically speaking....how can I bring a girlfriend to Australia? Is it the same process as an Australian resident? Sorry, but I don't quite understand the Defacto Visa process as it would apply to a US citizen. What are my options?

Why didn't she apply as your secondary applicant? She was supposed to be a part of the initial application.

Temporary Business (Long Stay) - Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457)
Secondary Applicant Eligibility
A partner is your spouse (the person you are married to) or de facto partner (including same-sex partners).

She just had to meet health and character requirements, and she would have been allowed to work and study in Australia. I don't know what you do now that you've been granted the visa...you're in Australia so unless someone else here knows, call 131 881 to ask.
