1445 form to extend working beyond 6 months

Hi everyone!

This subject is not easy to find from anywhere, so hopefully you guys can help me out. I am currently on my second work and holiday visa, I have been working as retail assistant for a company soon six months, however my boss would like to make me a manager of the store, and I would like to continue working for her. I called to the immigration office to ask if there is a possibility to extend working beyond six months, they said that there is a form 1445 for that. When I read the conditions in getting the extension, it indicates that there has to be a valid reason to get the extension, for example working in retail wouldn't be such a skilled job. I just would like to keep working for her and she would like me to keep working with her as well. Would it be good enough reason to get the extension if I get promoted? Please help me anyone, someone?

Thanks

As far as I am aware, you will need a more legitimate reason than this to be granted a extension.

Below are some of the reasons that IMMI will grant you an extension:

Exceptional circumstances might include remaining in your current job for one of the following reasons:
• for a very short time (days or weeks) as you are critical to the
completion of a specialised project that has unexpectedly
gone over time (this generally only relates to highly skilled
activities, such as a lawyer in the middle of a trial or a doctor
who plans to operate on a patient they have been treating);
• performing disaster recovery work following a major disaster
such as clean-up, re-building or emergency management
activities following a major flood;
• remaining in your current job while a decision is being made
on an application for a visa which would allow you to continue
full-time work with your employer without leaving Australia,
such as an application for a Temporary Business (Long Stay)
visa or a Spouse visa.

I have only ever seen 6 month extensions being granted for people who have applied for another visa application.

IMMI won't be able to give you visa advise on a matter like this. If you want to know for certain I would speak to a MARA agent.

A valid application for a 457 would start the 6-month clock ticking again.
