Visitor Visa processing time

Hi! I have a Philippine passport, but currently live in the United States. I submitted my Visitor Visa application as well as uploaded my documents 4 weeks ago, have not heard back from IMMI any update, what should I do?

I plan to visit Sydney next week. I am really getting stressed by the wait.

Hi
That seems a long time, i just did an online application for a tourist visa for my Filipino brother in law and it took just over 1 week, however I did note that in another post on this site some Indian nationals applying from the USA were talking of 4 to 6 week wait.
When are you due to fly?

The wait time is 4-6 wks. You can give them a call to check on progess since you are at the 4 wks mark.

Ok you are still within the normal processing time. You could try contacting them and see if they can give you some idea of your applications progress.
With 9 days to go you still have some breathing space.
Good luck!

Hi AussieSteve,

Really appreciate the replies, I wanted to ask how did you apply for your Filipino brother-in-law for a visitor visa, did you submit it yourself in Australia or did you do it online as well? Or did he personally apply in the Philippines? Is there a number to call to facilitate the process? I am very very worried that my visa will not get in time. How advance is the IMMI software, was hoping that there is an alert mechanism to update the applicants.

Hi
I did it on line myself on his behalf.
I created the account then applied for a visa.
I uploaded all the documentation i had at hand, using colour scans of the originals which i uploaded to the application. .
I received an email from the Manila embassy requesting some extra information which I scanned in and also uploaded, then 2 days later the visa was granted by email.
If you check you immi account online you can see the progress of your application.
If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply. You mean you applied from Australia for his visa, and he currently resides in the Philippines?
I guess, we have different pathways, I have been residing in the US, and they are asking me to contact and follow up with the America Contact Center and not the Manila office.

For now, it is still a waiting game. Is there a number for my Australian friend to call to facilitate the process on my behalf?

Yes i applied from Australia on his behalf BUT everything was in his name so they would not know it wasn't him applying.
I put myself as an extra contact so i got a copy of the emails etc.
Each Embassy looks after their own applications so you cant ask in Australia, also unless you put your friend as an additional contact the embassy wont discuss anything with them.
Did you apply for a straight visitors visa?

Ahhh so it must have been the Embassy in Manila that was quick and fast.
Yes I applied for a visitors visa subclass 600, paying $130 something. I'll continue to wait then.
