reporting a sham marriage

guys, i'm in a situation and need help. A male Australian friend of mine has fallen for a woman and marrying her soon. I know for sure that she's not in love with him and is only doing it to gain PR in to the country, when I asked her she actually said she was looking for someone to marry her for that reason after her lawyer told her that was the quickest way. My friend isn't ready to listen I know for sure that he's not a part of this. That leaves me with one option and that's to report the marriage to the immigration dob-in services. In fact if they show up at the wedding and ask her questions about him and his family i'm sure she wont be able to answer and will get caught right there, but I don't want my friend to get in trouble otherwise I wont be able to face myself i've heard you can get up to 10 years in jail.what should I do friends? I don't want any one entering this country this way.

approach your friend and have a serious conversation.. not alot you can do, dobbing them in might do your friendship more harm then good.

he thinks i'm jealous coz we used to date at some point! not ready to listen just tells me to mind my own business , I don't care as much about him than someone using a short cut for PR.

Well that changes everything, i don't think he will be likely to take advice if he thinks your jealous, are his assumptions right or?? do you genuinely know shes only after PR?

I think the immigration services will questioned them and investigate before taking decision. They will not just take your side of the story, it can be jealous like your friend said but they will find out what the lady is doing here and on what visa, does she know much about the guy and his family. .? And is her visa giving her problems, how long have they known each other and ..e.t.c but like it has been said ot may ruin your friendship. Be careful as the immigration will ask you to prove it. And you need to prove or they might also take you to court.

Until they lodge a partner visa application, they haven't done anything wrong. If they do get married and lodge a visa application, only THEN could you contact DIBP. But you should make sure you are certain of your facts and have something to back them up if needed.

As has been said immigration won't do anything until they have lodged an application.

If you want to report them when they lodge an application I would suggest to start collecting evidence to support your claim.

Will it be a good idea to at least tell the guy to watch his back for the incoming bogus "domestic violence" claim she will be filing if the guy found out?

And do you have any proof of her saying that it's the quickest way of gaining PR (like text or email or chat)?

they have nothing to prove their relationship, no pictures, no joined bank accounts, she hardly speaks english, in fact he has just broken up from his gf recently (maybe coz he fell for her) i'm not going to get involved as i'll write an anonymous report. I might not be able to stop the wedding and that's ok but this will put them on a watch list whenever they apply for the immigration right?

If this is the case they are gonna have a VERY hard time getting a partner visa! It takes a lot more than just a marriage certificate!!!
