Do we need to inform Centerlink?

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding my girlfriend's Centerlink payment.

She works part-time and is also currently receiving Centerlink payments Family tax A and B for herself and her two children. I am going to Australia on a tourist visa for 3 months and we want to start gathering evidence for our partner visa while we're living together.

Will I be considered to be her partner under Centerlink or as a guest/tourist in her home? Will she have to inform Centerlink that I am staying with her?

Regards,
howwy

Centrelink has to know about her de facto and/or married partner's.

I just went through the same experience. Usually she'd have to be treated as a member of a couple, but because you'll be on a tourist visa you come under a certain circumstance which means that although they know you are together, they will continue to treat her as being independant.

So yes, you have to tell them, though there won't be anything negative because of this.
