Prospective Marriage - Dependents

I'm in the process of completing a Prospective Marriage visa (300) for my partner with a view to Partner (residence) visa (801) down the track.

She has 2 children, 1 of which we would like to migrate, but for a number of reasons it would be better if the child came 9-12 months later. If we include the child on the PM visa does the child have to accompany their mother straight away?

Would we better off applying for a Dependent child visa (445) once my partners temporary Partner visa has been approved.

Any advice would be appreciated.
I have tried calling the Aust Immi number but can't afford to wait - 'your are number 72 i the queue!'

Typically you're much better off including the child in the application. The child will need to fly over to Australia to activate the visa, but can then return to their home country and join you in Australia 9-12 months later without issue.

Keep in mind both children will need medicals, migrating or not, and you'll need permission from the migrating child's other parent to take him/her out of the country.
