Smile Tips to winning work in Australia for skilled migrants

The market in Australia can be different and is changing by the day. We have some simple tips for winning work, largely based on the work we have done with thousands of skilled migrants. The three R's, but put differently!

1. Reinvent: if you are say, an Accountant, consider what industries you have worked in and what you know beyond accounting. This week we helped a skilled migrant Accountant win a customer service role in international travel because that it is his background, and a large part of the reason he won the role is because he knows the country of origin and has travelled within it extensively. Will he be an Accountant in Australia ever? Maybe not, but he has a start!

2. Research: Use the internet to find niche markets and employers who will say, "Wow, I have to talk to this guy". Then, make careful personal phone approaches looking for conversations, not jobs.

3. Resilient: Call until people tell you to nick off!

Good luck!
